Food + Drink Cocktail of the Week Brian Webb

The Tea and The Shade CocktailHigh tea is the moment of the day to stop, sit, enjoy some freshly brewed tea, then drop the tea about anyone and everyone as a way to pass the time and enjoy each other’s company. The only tea spilled was the gossip in the air.

You can relive these fun times and engage in a little bit of tea time—with a 2018 twist. The Tea and The Shade Cocktail is delightful nod to the decadent past, getting you tipsy as you tattle on the shenanigans of friends and family.

No matter what comes your way at high tea, you’ll want to abide in this lavish adult beverage. Infused with Earl Grey tea and mixed with honey, lemon juice, and gin, you’ll feel like a right English gentleman—or chatty Cathy Southern Belle—with The Tea and the Shade cocktail.

What you’ll need:

  • 3 oz cold Earl Grey tea
  • 1 ¼ oz gin
  • 1 ¼ oz honey syrup
  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice

Shake all ingredients in a shaker full of ice. Strain into a cocktail glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with an edible flower.
