In the 80’s and through the 90’s, unprotected sex lead to an epidemic outbreak of HIV, especially in the gay population. Millions of dollars were spend on education programs telling people the importance of safer-sex and the dangers of ‘barebacking’.
“I dont do it at all [anymore] cause its something I dont ever wanna have to deal with,” said Phillip.
And he’s right. The cost of medical treatment and prescriptions for HIV positive patients is ever increasing.
Although Phillip firmly believes in practicing safer sex, he adds, “Everyone makes there own choice, [and] mine is to always wear a condom and thats that.”
Today in the world of adult entertainment, unprotected sex, known as ‘barebacking’, still remains as one of the most commonly watched and demanded type of porn. It seems there is a double standard and role models including ChiChi Larue, Brent Everett and now Phillip Ashton are speaking out with the message to practice safer sex.
“For those that are doing unsafe sex know it’s your choice and if anything happens while doing it, dont be a bitter bitch,” says Phillip Ashton. “Tell the other person or persons your having sex with your status. Its considered manslaughter if you don’t.”
Phillip ended with, “Be responsible now and take care of yourself and those you hook up with.” – I have to agree.
