Being a drag queen is a lot of work. You need to establish a character and attitude, source elaborate and original wigs, shoes and outfits, and be ready to get up on stage to tell jokes, and perform music and dance numbers. RuPaul’s Season 2 Drag Queen, Manila Luzon has been hard at work mastering all these skills.

“Drag is something that takes a long time to perfect,” Manila explained. “You just have to keep practicing, and keep trying to improve.”

While it takes a lot of creativity, shopping, and magic, being a drag queen takes many, many wigs, dresses and pairs of high heels.

“Too many to count,” said Manila as she tried to recall how many outfits she has. “I can even give you a rough estimate. Just thinking of it makes my head hurt.”

Manila’s secret to getting into all her outfits? Corsets. Really, tight corsets.

“Although I’ve archived this outfit because I wore it EVERYWHERE, my favourite outfit is my pineapple dress from the show,” explained Manila as she described her favourite outfit that she likes to wear. “I even have a Barbie doll of myself in it!”
