Edie Windsor Honoured as Grand Marshal in the 2013 New York City Pride March

After a long court battle, Edie Windsor’s fight against the Defence of Marriage Act (DOMA), was finally came to a monumental end last week, after taking her case all the way to the Supreme Court. The ruling in Edie’s favour came just days before the NYC Pride March, which Edie was honoured to be named the Grand Marshal for the 2013 New York City Pride March, held on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Edie’s had been ordered to pay over $360,000 in federal estate taxes when her partner of 44 years, Thea Speyer, passed away. The Supreme Court sided with Edie in the end, ruling the payment unconstitutional.
