Starting on the outside of the luxury SUV, the newest feature are the Jewel Eye LED headlights. The design and style is a real estate agents dream, it’s sleek, modestly sophisticated and has gentle curves.
Under the hood is a powerful 290 horsepower V-6 engine with all new technology to improve both fuel efficiency and performance. This 3.5L engine replaces the previous 3.7L, but delivers more torque and and output per litre. There is a 6-speed automatic transmission with sport-shift paddle shifters on the steering wheel, which makes for a pretty fun ride.
The best part of the 2014 Acura MDX is the interior. There are plenty of driver comforts, the soft, heated leather seats with power adjustments are just the start. The steering wheel is jam-packed with easy-access hand-controls including voice commands, telephone connectivity, audio adjust, cruise control, traction control, and vital vehicle information. The keyless entry and push start is a great addition.
The centre control is large enough to pack a laptop, table or small messenger bag, and has multiple plugs to power all types of gadgets. Above is a fantastic large moon roof, letting in plenty of fresh air and natural sunlight.
The electronics package is pretty nice. A large touch-screen in the centre dash controls audio and temperature, but also displays the rear-view camera and the GPS navigation. A smart phone is easily connected in just a few minutes.
For the remaining five passengers in the rear, they have nothing to worry about. They can control their own temperature and audio volume through the centre console. Getting in and out of the middle and third-row seating is also easy, thanks to the lower and wider access.
The 2014 Acura MDX Elite is $65,990 MSRP. It’s a great value for a feature-packed SUV.
