The hit television show, Pawn Stars, is based on a real store in Las Vegas, Nevada, named Gold and Silver Pawn Shop. The pawn shop is open to the public daily to buy, sell or pawn items, or just to come in and check out the store.
There is no cost to go inside the pawn store, however, depending on the time of day, there can be a cue outside. There are only limited amounts of people allowed inside the store at any given time. Once inside, there are many glass display cases full of jewelry, one-of-a-kind items, weapons, and pieces of history, all for sale. Some items are even marked with tags identifying that the piece has appeared on the show.
For those that have seen the show and then go into the actual store, everyone has the same reaction, that the pawn shop looks way bigger on TV. Photography is allowed inside the store, except in the direction of the register desk. At the back of the store there are a wide selection of collectable merchandise for sale.
Rick Harrison, The Old Man, Corey (Big Hoss) Harrison, and Chumlee, the main personalities on the show, are typically in the pawnshop mid-week, so there’s a chance you can see them if you stop in. The people you see in the background on the show are real customers! When the show is being filmed the amount of people inside the store is reduced and people inside the store are asked to keep their voices low and to turn off all cell phone ringers.
The Gold and Silver Pawn Shop is located at 713 S Las Vegas Blvd, which is about a 7 minute drive off the Las Vegas strip.
