The beaches of Fort LauderdaleSouth Florida is a popular vacation destination. The weather is almost always perfect, there are miles of beautiful sandy beaches, and there’s always a frozen cocktail nearby.  While it’s easy to get a beachside hotel, you’ll have a hell of a lot more fun checking in at a gay resort.

Gay resorts have become very popular in Fort Lauderdale. These resorts are typically older apartment type buildings which have been renovated and converted into cute full-service accommodations.

Rooms at the Royal Palms in Fort Lauderdale

The Royal Palms is a fantastic example of a gay men only resort experience done right. Upon arrival guests are shown to their room and given a quick tour of the property. There are 50 units to choose from ranging from small queen size to deluxe king with ocean views. Rooms start at $119 / night. The rooms are refreshing, with a simple, clean white design. The beds are really comfortable too. Most units have a walk-in shower with a rainfall shower head.

The central courtyard is the hub. Here’s where you’ll meet other guests and take in many of the activities. The atmosphere is extremely friendly and open. The resort guests must be at least 21 years to enter the property. Hurray for kid-free vacations!

In the morning relax with coffee and breakfast on the patio. Afterwards, head to Sebastian beach, a gay-friendly beach area about five blocks away to soak in the sun.  In the afternoon, head back to the hotel to grab lunch and drinks at the courtyard bar. Lunch options range from salads and wraps to burgers and sandwiches. After lunch relax by the pool and enjoy the rest of the hot afternoon sun. Remember to re-apply more sunscreen so you don’t get burnt!

For dinner, walk over to Ocean Avenue to have dinner at one of the many ocean-view restaurants. There are lots of great choices from casual Mexican to steakhouses. There are always Happy Hour specials too!

The Royal Palms Guest House in Fort Lauderdale

The Royal Palms is well respected for having a great poolside bar. At night its where many of the guests come to enjoy drinks and hang out before heading out to the bars in Wilton Manors. Another nice feature of this resort is all meals and drinks can be charged right to your room, so there’s no need to carry cash or a wallet once you’re in! Go ahead, order another drink.

The resort also includes a complete gym with cardio and weight machines and free weights. Right beside it is a full-service spa, offering treatments including teeth whitening, full body massages, scrubs and facials.

The property next door to the Royal Palms was recently purchased and renovated, which includes a beautiful bistro restaurant. There are plans to connect the acquired property in the spring.

For more information, specials, and to make a reservation, check out the Royal Palms website.
