“It’s an idea that I came up with because I want to work with different record labels,” DJ Pornstar said. “I decided to push forward with it as a LGBT record label.”
DJ Pornstar hopes to shine a brighter light on LGBT artists such as the RuPaul drag race girls and Detox, who aren’t taken as seriously by the industry as their heterosexual counterparts.
“They just aren’t being recognized as artists,” DJ Pornstar said. “Since I put Pornstar Records out on Facebook, people have reached out and want to get involved. It’s perfect for people in the gay community who want to get involved and get more recognition for their work.”
DJ Pornstar is starting the year off with a bang. In addition to his prospective new label, he’s signed a contract with Gun Oil personal lubricants that includes this tear-jerking Valentine’s Day commercial, and continues to work with other partners including Andrew Christian. He will spend every other month in 2014 at his new residency in Beijing and hopes to do a European tour.
