Dig into the back of your closet and pull out your feather boas, sequence blouses, and high heels because World Pride 2014 is coming to Toronto, Ontario and this is one massive celebration you are not going to miss!
If you haven’t already booked your hotel and plane ticket, you’d better get on it. Hundreds of thousands of people are going to be descending on Toronto from June 20 – 29 for Canada’s largest gay pride events, Toronto Pride, but also this year, they are hosting World Pride.
World Pride 2014 is one of the biggest international pride events, celebrating diversity and providing a forum of education, activism and history of LGBT rights. This will be the first time World Pride will be held in North America, honouring the past, celebrating the present, and inspiring the future of LGBT communities everywhere.
While there will be many key moments throughout the 10 day event, many people will be coming for the incredible parties and entertainment. Canadian artists who actively support and inspire the gay community will be highlighted, including Carly Rae Jepson, Tegan and Sara, Chely Wright and Melissa Etheridge.
The entertainment doesn’t stop there. International artists including Deborah Cox, Martha Wash and DJ’s David Morales and Quentin Harris will be performing on the ten open-air stages in the Church-Wellesley Village.
There will be the annual Pride parade, street fair, dyke march, youth programming and family pride events.
