Just like some random hook-ups, porn stars are occasionally paired up with people they aren’t overly attracted to. Usually studios do a really good job at matching people up based on their role and type, but its not always perfect. Take for example these situations where porn stars have shown up on set and realized that they aren’t overly attracted to their scene partner.

“Everyone has had that happen,” say gay porn star Zack Taylor. “It doesn’t mean they aren’t attractive. It’s called acting for a reason. You’re not always going to get what you want. Sometimes that just a mistake of who you were casted with. You need to make it believable and find something attractive about them, because at the end of the gay, you were hired for a reason. You have to do your job.”

Perry Cavalari echo’s Zack’s point.

“That’s part of the acting aspect,” explains Perry. “That’s where porn ‘actor’ come in. To make a good scene you have to really put yourself into it. For me, I don’t know if I’ve ever had a partner that I haven’t been attracted do. When you work in a certain environment, not everyone is going to be your type. You are there to do a job. You have to just prepare yourself to do it. As long as you can get hard, you can film porn. Just grin and bear it. Smile like you like it. I’m also a big slut, so I’m probably not the right person to ask.”

Brandon Jones has his own approach to the situation.

“Zone out and just get through it,” said Brandon. “Imagine that he is really hot. Just let yourself go. You’re not paid to be in love with the guy. You’re paid to fuck. If you can’t do it, you just have to walk out.”

Being able to get hard and stay hard is really important.

“If you aren’t attracted and can’t get hard, then there’s always a little blue pill,” Hans Berlin said half laughing. “I always bring my acting background. You just act. Porn a lot of the time is acting. Sometimes you don’t know if the other person is attracted to you. You want the scene to look like real sex. You have to make it look real.”

Working in gay porn isn’t as easy as it looks. These porn stars are experienced professionals and even they sometimes have a hard time, but in the end, they all have their own methods of dealing with the situation so there is a good outcome for everyone.

All of the excuses and “solutions” that these guys give is EXACTLY why I left the industry. I’ve experienced them all myself, but got to a point where I grew up, and REFUSED to disrespect sex by going through such motions for the desperation for validation that porn actors of today show.

I got in the business to show guys males questioning their orientation a gay man comfortable with their orientation. And to achieve that means being with someone you’re ACTUALLY attracted to, which is why most (if not all) gay porn studio heads are glorified pimps. For that is not their concern. Their concern is who they think looks hot together. But even more so, who they can make more money off of by pairing up. For porn to be worth buying, porn actors need to bring in their own people, and porn producers need to be humane enough to comply with that.

And it’s not a big shock that most of the gay porn actors questioned for this piece can easily be found out as Rentboy escorts. So having sex void of connection is what they’re used to. But the fact they do it REPEATEDLY in front of a camera, and tolerate it show a cry for help. It’s for these reasons gay porn actors should not be the superheroes the gay media (and many in the community) make them out to be.
