The election of Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau as Canada’s new Prime Minister (PM) has made this a thrilling week in Canadian politics but most importantly, it marks the election of the world’s newest and sexiest leader. Trudeau is the son of two-time Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau but also the first PM to be a second generation national leader for Canada. This electoral win was an incredible story as it is the first time since 1925 that a party who stood in third place in Parliament ended up as a majority government on Election Day. Trudeau’s win on Monday also makes this is the first federal majority government with the most amount of seats in Quebec since Pierre Trudeau was the PM in the early 1980’s. Monday, October 19 certainly marks the most significant shift in leadership and party in a decade but also signals a new generation of leadership.
The election of Trudeau certainly marks a significant shift in the country’s political vision and policy with a change of promises that include ending the ban on men who have sex with men from donating blood, legalization of pot, increased infrastructure spending just to name a few. Some political pundits in Canada are suggesting that these policy changes will put Canada back on the global stage for the Liberal nation it has always been known for. Trudeau is already putting Canada back on the world map but for entirely different reasons. The international media have been remarking that he is the sexiest world leader at the moment and no one will really argue with this fact.
American and Canadian gay men have been exchanging messages and texts expressing their glee at the new sexy Canadian PM. Let’s be honest – Justin Trudeau is without a doubt the sexiest global leader to get elected in this generation. While some would suggest it would be better for all of us to be ogling over his policies and not his body, this is temporary and once he begins to take stands on national and global policy issues then the criticism will certainly begin. The pure handsomeness of this man is clear, and he is also a caring and smart man. Global media have called him everything from pretty boy to sexiest global leader. The PM and Canada enjoy it’s newly found ranking as a sexy nation that no one can deny. In fact, UK’s Mirror said that the Liberal win kicked off “what has to be the sexiest political dynasty since the Kennedys” thanks to Trudeau’s “luscious brown hair, spellbinding eyes” and his “very manly tattoo”.
Sexy or not Canada showed the world that they were eager for change and got it. Let’s hope Trudeau is not only a sexy looking Prime Minister in the years to come but also a leader that the younger generation can now begin to have faith and trust in the political process once again.
