The holiday season is upon us, and with that brings the festive time of the year and love to share with friends and family. It’s glittery, fun, and joyful. Let’s take a look at three holiday decorating tips.
Don’t be gaudy
It’s so easy to do during the season because we see so much and want to do it all in our own holiday festivities. Just be careful not to go overboard. You can still be festive without causing an unsettling display for your room. Start with the bare essentials; a tree, wreath, and stocking, and then build from there. You can then fill other areas as needed. Some pieces to achieve this just take some thought to really place selectively, instead of over doing it.
Pick a theme
Whether it’s Frozen, regal, Hollywood, or anything you enjoy, make that your starting focus point. It’s possible to have a separate theme in each room for a more fun, festive look. You could mix it up every year, instead of investing in one theme that might be a one year fad. Choose items that can be used after the holidays are over too, like a simple clear vase that can be filled with garland and lights for the season, then used after for candles in the spring and summer. Be smart with your theming and don’t waste money needlessly.
If you find something that you like that wouldn’t be labeled as holiday décor, but you still love it, don’t let that stop you. It can be a simple as putting a Santa hat on your Pamela Anderson stand up, to wrapping bows around your framed photos. These unique touches make the holiday’s extra special, personalized, and set your home apart from anyone else’s.
Showcase your home, but don’t forget the main reason for the holiday’s, and that is to share love and be there for those that you love.
