Another season of the most popular and hit Broadway shows are scheduled to tour across Canada. Broadway Across Canada recently announced Newsies, Kinky Boots, Cinderella, and Book of Mormon, will be part of the 2016-2017 line-up coming to the Queen Elisabeth Theatre in Vancouver.   Newsies: July 5-10, 2016 This show is filled with heart-pounding number after another. It’s a high energy explosion of song and dance. Based on real-life events, Newsies tells the story of a band of underdogs who become unlikely heroes when they stand up to the most powerful men in New York. It’s a story about fighting for what’s right and staying true to who you are.   Kinky Boots: Feb 7-12, 2017 Inspired by real events, Kinky Boots features the songs by Grammy and Tony award-winning artist, Cyndi Lauper. The musical celebrates the friendships we discover and the belief that you can change the world when you change your mind. The story takes you from a gentlemen’s shoe factor in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Prince, the main character, struggles to live up to his father’s expectations and continue to run the family business. With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives , in the form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of sturdy new stilettos.   Cinderella: April 11-16, 2017 The contemporary take on the classic tale, this production features an orchestra, transformations, and moments you’ll love, including the pumpkin, glass slipper, masked ball, and more, along with some new twists. This hilarious and romantic Broadway show is for everyone who has ever had a wish, a dream, or a really great pair of shoes!   Book of Mormon: August 23-September 4, 2016 Returning to Vancouver, the Book of Mormon is an outrageous musical comedy that follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries who are sent across the world to spread the Good Word. This musical has quickly become an international sensation!
