The Male Gaze, a new art exhibition is set to open in Vancouver, BC, and will homage to the male body. Artists from around the world are invited to submit their illustrations, paintings, photography, cartoons, textile, and glass work, that celebrate the male form.
The exhibition of male art will be showcased at The Gallery from April 21-30, in Vancouver, BC, at the Vancouver Arts and Leisure, a radical artist-run society presenting art and leisure in unconventional spaces and ways. The exhibit organizers are looking for submissions that pay tribute to the allure, diversity, and distinctive feature of the male subject.
“We prefer new works, but please contact me if you have any inquiry about showing previous shown pieces,” said Chase Porter, gallery curator and director at Vancouver Arts and Leisure.
The all-inclusive exhibition welcomes submissions featuring transgender individuals, male identifying, and all body types. Exhibit organizers also welcome works of nudity and sexuality.
Submissions for The Male Gaze are open until March 30 for international artists and until April 10 for local artists. Works will be chosen based upon cohesiveness, originality, quality, and arousal. Artists interested in selling their work will be paid the full value of what they priced their work at should their work be sold during the exhibition.
