Sin City ShootoutSin City Shootout is the single, largest multi-sport event in the United States returns to the most crazy and outrageous city in the world: Las Vegas! Held January 12-15, 2017, the weekend will attract over 8,500 participants competing in 25 different sports. The sporting events will be supported in the way the LGBT community does best; with a series of fabulous, well organized, memorable and utterly outrageous events to fill the precious fun times between events!

“The Sin City Shootout sports festival is the largest annual LGBT sporting event in the world,” said tournament director, Eric Ryan. “With the core value of providing the athlete with the best event on and off the field, sin city hopes to continue its growth till all LGBT athletes have a safe and fun place to compete.”

The LGBT movement has come a long way from striving for basic legal rights and civil recognition. The next step is to create social cohesion and acceptance. This is done best by showing the world that we are a proud community that is more than just our gender or sexual orientation. Sports are and always have been one of the greatest mediums through which to progress civil rights movements. This is because of the base nature of sports. In sports it doesn’t matter what race, gender, sexual orientation or age you are, what matters is ability. Sports are one of the few arenas where individual accomplishment counts for more than anything else. It has long been a place where individuals from oppressed backgrounds are able to compete, and in many cases, surpass those from more privileged positions. Throughout history, sporting accomplishments have given a voice and enabled those to whom a voice had previously been denied to speak out on behalf of the people they represent.

The Tropicana Las Vegas will host the weekend kick-off on the Thursday night with a welcome party (with insane drinks deals!) and will close out the weekend with a wrap-up party on the Sunday night with parties every night in between. For athletes there will be events ranging from arm wrestling and billiards to power lifting and swimming.

Sin City Shootout is bound to be an action packed, eventful weekend full of memories to be and friends to meet. But what it represents is more than just a fun, frolicking weekend of activities and partying, it represents the immense strides we, as a community, have made in the last few decades, it represents the strength and pride we embody and the style, positivity and fun loving nature that we constantly and unfailingly inject into it.

Visit the Sin City Shootout website for more information on the event and its host hotel, and what’s new and happening in gay vegas for great tips on what else to see during your stay! If you are looking for more accommodation options, the Luxor Hotel is the longest and most consistent supporter of LGBT programs in Las Vegas and they offer LGBT packages.
