It was a non-stop stream of gay-lister’s through the doors all weekend long at Matinee Las Vegas 2017, which has become the unofficial kick-off to Pride month and the summer party season. Matinee is the largest travelling gay music festival, and the Las Vegas edition is the hottest event on the West Coast this season. Thousands of gay men flocked to the desert city of sin over the MLK holiday long weekend to attend Matinee Las Vegas 2017, to enjoy hot parties, world-class DJ’s, and to create epic memories with existing and new friends.
Matinee Las Vegas 2017 was a non-stop, three day, action-packed weekend featuring nine signature parties. Right from the start, Matinee had amazing energy. Friday evening kicked off the events with Pervert, a leather-themed event, which set the pace for the rest of the events. It was the place to be to experience fantastic music, meet new people, and to party around the clock.
Each event is completely unique and different, from the Friday night leather and harness party, to showing off your sexy goods at the afternoon pool party, or having an evening of fun with friends at the water park, there we plenty of options for all partygoers.
Props to the line-up of 15 incredibly talented, world-travelling circuit DJ’s that kept the music going throughout the entire event and laying down fierce tracks. The performances were flawless. Dancing go-go boys, cirque artists, and even a flame thrower, made for incredible entertainment at each event. Plus the high quality production, with lasers, lighting, and premium sound equipment made the party have high impact and mesmerized party-goers.
What’s important is that behind the scenes stayed behind the scenes – the entire weekend was seamless, smooth and had a consistent flow without issue, allowing the guests to focus on the fun and having the time of their lives. The event producers go all-out to put on high quality events, to keep them fresh, and consistent with the experience Matinee is known worldwide for.
The fashion was unbelievable too! People showed up wearing fantastic outfits and were proud to show off their incredibly sexy bodies. From speedos and short shorts, to harnesses and custom made outfits, the gay’s strutted their stuff on the pool decks and the dance floors.
While some people, or groups of friends may show up wearing costumes, Matinee events aren’t typically costume-themed, other than the obvious circuit clothing and leather / fetish gear. However, new for this year, and for the first time in North America, The Game, a video-game themed event, was introduced. The Game is Matinee’s most anticipated theme direct from Spain with pyrotechnics and mind-blowing Cirque shows. It was incredible to see people go all-out with spectacular custom-made costumes, while others wore game-themed t-shirts and accessories. It was a great sign that the Matinee crowd is anxious for more costume theme events.
Of course, the best way to experience Matinee is go all out and get the Ultra VIP package. No line ups, exclusive areas, and even light refreshments and snacks at some of the events. Ultra VIP guests got up close to all the performances and had access to lounge areas to take a break and relax.
Compared to other circuit parties, if you buy early, it’s an affordable weekend. Early bird tickets are always the cheapest, and staying at the host hotel means you don’t have to pay extra for transportation because all the events happen right there. What’s more is that, for the most part, the price of drinks at the events (except for one), were quite reasonable for Las Vegas bars. Plus, unlike other circuit events, purchasing drink tickets wasn’t required, so you don’t waste money on unused tickets.
Matinee Las Vegas 2017 slays as one of the best weekends to kick off the summer and Pride seasons and this year will go down, yet again, as a ferociously fabulous festival. Better start planning now for 2018, because you can be sure that it’s going to be bigger and better, and you definitely do not want to miss out!
