The fall weather is about to set in and with it comes shorter days, cooler nights, and plenty of time to enjoy the comfort staples of the season. Autumn is the time of year to indulge in hearty, beverages and feasts that will warm you from the inside, out. Don’t be so basic by incorporating pumpkin spice into everything. Sit back, relax, and try some of the favorite things from your youth that you enjoyed as the leaves turned to vivid colors. Fall is the perfect season to try all-time classics and new food adventures . From patch to plate, dig in to these delicious fall comfort food feasts.
Hot chocolate. Hot cocoa is a staple of winter and fall and a delicious treat to help you keep warm. Craving that bit of extra in your life? Add pumpkin spice, white girl.
Apple cider. Spiked or not spiked, apple is the flavor of the season and they are ripest in the autumn. Perfect for kicking up the beverage game.
Eggnog. Not just a Christmas affair, eggnog is creeping into your life much sooner this year. And, why shouldn’t it? It’s delicious as an eggnog cocktail.
Vegetable beef stew. Possibly the easiest thing on the list to make (cut up beef and veggies, boil in water), vegetable beef stew is a classic soup perfect for the changing weather.
Butternut squash soup. Butternut squash is rich in potassium, and the soup has become a regular during the fall. Butternut squash is slowly nearly about to oust pumpkin spice as the food du jour.
Tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich. No greater pair there ever was than grilled cheese with tomato soup. Not just for kids, this is a fab combo that’ll keep you warm while reminding you of childhood.
Clam chowder. Seafood. Mixed with cream sauce, celery, and onions. Served hot. It’s warming and tastes like the ocean wrapped in a hug. What’s not to like?
Meatloaf. Just like mom made. Root vegetables are in season during the fall, and meatloaf is a great way to use all of them in one dish. Just add meat.
Pot roast. Who doesn’t like a large slab of meat, baking away for hours, heating up your house with the smell of herbs, spices, and dead cow? Pot roast is the gift that keeps on giving leftovers for days. Yum.
Pumpkin pie. The one thing pumpkin on this list is anything but basic. One of the best desserts ever, Pumpkin Pie is a staple at Thanksgiving, a featured guest at Christmas, and often not around after the New Year.
