Cranberry cinnamon whisky sourCanadian Thanksgiving is this week, meaning its time to gather with friends and family gathered around turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, root vegetables, and both apple and pumpkin pie. Thanksgiving is also the celebration of the cornucopia of the harvest season. Thanksgiving is the time of year when the weather is still warm, with a chill in the morning air. The leaves are turning, and preparations for winter are well underway. Thanksgiving’s a feast with family. Celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving with this delicious cocktail, the Cranberry Cinnamon Whisky Sour.

  • 2 oz Canadian whisky
  • ½ oz cranberry simple syrup
  • ¾ oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz orange juice
  • ½ oz lime juice

Pour all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake. Strain into an ice-filled cocktail glass. Garnish with fresh orange slice, fresh cranberries, and cinnamon stick.

Cranberry simple syrup:

  • 1 c fresh cranberries
  • 1 c water
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Add ingredients to saucepan and bring to boil. Reduce to medium heat and simmer for 5-8 minutes, stirring regularly. Strain syrup through a fine sieve into a clean glass container. Let cool. Store for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
