It may sound cheesy, but the new year is a great time to refocus your energy and get into shape. There is no better time than the changing of the new year to change your life for the better. Make your resolutions last: A new year can mean a new you. Here are some tips providing info and guidance on setting health goals for the new year, so you can have successful New Year’s Resolutions you’ll actually keep for more than a week.

A New Year, A New You

Fitness and healthy living are a lifestyle. You’ve got to really want to take the plunge and want to change your life. Though it won’t be easy adapting and finding the time to add fitness to your life can be exceedingly challenging at time. Just remember that the health benefits alone are worth it, not to mention the confidence and boost in self-worth you feel once your body tones up.

Set goals for the New Year and start them now. The holidays seem to stump everyone into slipping up a bit by eating too much and exercising too little. Summer bodies are built in the winter, people. Set a muscle gain or weight loss goal now and begin working on said goal immediately. It can’t be as generic as ‘I want to put on muscle.’ Make it a SMART goal (specific, measurable, achievable, results-focused, and time-bound). Setting these goals is the biggest step in beginning getting into fitness for the New Year.

A New Year, A New You

Not everyone can afford his or her own trainer, so you have to become your own personal trainer. Get your butt out of bed or off the couch and get to working out. The more you sit during the day, the worst it is for your health. Something as easy as walking around, taking the stairs, and doing a few push-ups / sit-ups each day makes a difference. Make an effort to do something physical each and every single day. Eventually, you’ll want to be doing something involving more and more physical activity.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. Getting to your ideal weight or putting on muscle mass takes time, dedication, and adherence to your goals. It may take a few weeks or even a month for you to start noticing results, but it will all be worth it in the end when your goals have been met. Take the time to educate yourself about different workouts and diets; eating and what you put in your stomach is half of the battle. The more you know, the more likely you are to succeed at reaching your New Year’s fitness goals. A New Year, A New You.
