There are few events and places that are still considered gay rights of passage: Gay Pride, a gay cruise, Puerto Vallarta, Mykonos, and of course: White Party Palm Springs. Perhaps the most famous of all the gay parties of the year, White Party Palm Springs is an epic weekend of fun that gets better and better each year. Here are the highlights of the sights, sounds, and emotions of a fantastic weekend White Party under the hot Palm Springs sun.
If you have never been to a circuit party, White Party is a great one to begin with and Palm Springs is a fantastic destination. Enjoy the palm trees, gay neighborhood, pools, golfing, hiking, scenery, and more. The weather, as always in Southern California, was outstanding: White Party had bright blue skies and warm evenings. White Party Palm Springs has fabulous indoor and outdoor events with incredible DJ lineups and gorgeous men everywhere. White Party is a part of the gay circuit family: you will make friends who will watch out for you and will feel the love of the community.
With several parties that stretched over the weekend featuring an all-star lineup of DJs and phenomenal, world-class entertainment, White Party Palm Springs 2018 was a party not to be missed. With the music, sound, and lighting on-point all weekend and Palm Springs playing as a gracious host, you can really make WPPS your own adventure – stay in the host hotel, come for the music, the concerts, and performers. Enjoy Palm Springs and White Party by attending the events or take a break/ mix up your weekend by going to the local bars / restaurants.
The event kicked off on Friday night with Sleaze at the Renaissance Hotel. Leather, harnesses, jockstraps, and fetish gear was the gear of choice as people packed the dance floor, grinding to the deep beats of the music.
Saturday featured two prominent parties: the Saturday Papa pool party and the signature Saturday night White Party. The Saturday pool party with Nikki Valentine was fantastic – there were great performances with over 1,000 spectators on the pool deck. Attendees seemingly where determined to show off an array of swim wear, including jock straps, mankinis, thongs, onesies, and speedos.
Saturday night was the featured White Party event. Every possible interpretation of a white get-up was on display at this event. The featured performer, Erika Jayne, was present throughout the White Party weekend and her very brief performance was bad ass and incredible. The Go-go dancer performances at each event are always fun, especially with the outstanding White Party costumes.
With a fraction of the attendees as the Saturday Papa pool party, the Sunday Splash pool party was just as fun. Kim Petras, a rising singer, put on a good performance for the small crowd who managed to crawl out of their hotel rooms for a brief moment by the pool.
The highlight of the entire White Party Palm Springs weekend was headliner Kylie Minogue at the Sunday t-dance. The Goddess of Pop delivered a highly anticipated incredible performance that left party-goers on an incredible weekend high. In short—Kylie was everything.
The Tea Dance stage makes a prominent statement, and the Ferris wheel adds a fantastic free activity offering fantastic views of the event. A new and welcome addition this year was an In & Out Burger food truck. Following Kylie’s flawless performance, one of the largest private choreographed fireworks displays in North America lit up the desert sky. Sunday night’s Mantra party was a great way to end an incredible and epic White Party Palm Springs weekend.
With any events, there is always room for improvement. Sure, there will forever be grief about the drink ticket system because there are events hosted at different venues by different operators, security will always be tight to protect the venues, performances, and attendees, and other minor details; but each year the event production team listens to feedback, makes adjustments, and does their best to put on an incredible weekend of fun and entertainment.
Overall, White Party Palm Springs 2018 will be remembered for its fantastic parties, fantastic weather, outstanding performances, and of course, Kylie Minogue. If you haven’t been to White Party Palm Springs before, or if you haven’t been in a while, get it on your radar for 2019, because each year it keeps getting better and better.
Congratulations Jeffrey Sanker and team, it was a fantastic weekend. Looking forward to White Party Palm Springs 2019!
