In theory, all of us are adventurous people. But when it comes to practice, well, that’s when things go a bit south. Each and every one of us should have the possibility and the will to be wild and do things that we wouldn’t do otherwise, or that look pretty extreme. No matter how organized (or a control freak) you are, doing something without planning to do it is extremely fun and also very good for your mental health. Let’s assume that you really, really want to be a little bit wilder this year and you simply have no idea how to achieve it. Here are a couple of tips that will make you the wildest beast among your friends:

1. Start from your home town

If you’re a newbie in the department of going wild (getting super drunk at a party doesn’t count, FYI), you should probably start by taking baby steps. This is where your home town comes to the game, as it’s always better to start wild things near your home. The first thing you should do is find out what kind of adventures you can pursue in your home town – it could be either hiking opportunities, checking out a concert, or simply finding an adrenaline park and facing your fears. The environment that you somewhat know is ideal for going wild for the first time.

2. Do an extreme sport

Another possibility that you could consider, either in your home town or practically anywhere else in the world, is trying an extreme sport. You are probably scared at the moment, thinking it’s better to skip it, but if you equip yourself with the right gear such as dirt bike accessories and you decide to try some extreme biking, there’s nothing to be scared of. Biking is excellent for your first extreme sport as it’s not that “heavy” as bungee-jumping for example, but it also provides you with an unforgettable adrenaline rush.

3. Plan en exotic trip

On a bit calmer note (but still wild though, we’re not becoming more vanilla as the tips continue) is planning a trip on a destination that not many consider. Take a globe, spin it and point your finger on it. The next step would be buying tickets for that specific location (unless it’s Antarctica or the closest country). It’s always pretty wild and amazing to visit new places that not many people see and to experience something before any of your friends do. It could either be going on a safari in the heart of Africa, sleeping in a small village in Italy, heading to the Ritz Carlton Koh Samui in Thailand for a relaxing vacation, or visiting a farm in Peru. If you have a specific exotic place in your mind, one that you’ve always wanted to visit, this is the time to be crazy. However, you can also browse for many ideas online.

4. Go on a road trip

So, we’re trying to be wild and spontaneous, so perhaps it’s time to grab your partner or your best friend, start your car, fill in the gas tank and just go on a road trip around your country (or continent) for a couple of days. Not having any plan should be your most important plan, as magnificent things happen out of these spontaneous and wild decisions. We’ve always been programmed to go from point A to point B, but what about taking a different route and visiting point C or D which are perhaps more interesting and totally cool? There are so many hidden pearls in your vicinity and you simply don’t know anything about them.

Yes, it’s definitely difficult to be wild if you’re scared of that. But if that is something you want to change about yourself, then it’s definitely time to take the matter into your own hands and do something small (but more than enough) for you. Wake up to adventure, be spontaneous and don’t think about any problems. And no planning in advance! Good luck!
