Have you ever met someone who doesn’t enjoy pizza? Is that even possible? With being a billion dollar industry, pizza seems to dominate in the comfort food category. According to statista.com pizza chains like Pizza Hut, Pizza Pizza, and Boston Pizza all made the top 18 list for highest gross sales in 2017. That doesn’t even include other chains that may have pizza on the menu, but not specialize in that category.

Whether it’s a warm and sunny day, or a miserable stormy night out, the enjoyment of company can make everything better. Grab a group of friends, invite them over, and host your very own homemade pizza party. Create some laughs and don’t forget to capture the moments with photos and videos so your group can always remember how much fun you had. Cocktails or beverages will definitely help as well.

Creating homemade pizza dough can be a long and painful process if you are not familiar with working it. Don’t fret. If you want a more simple way to make pizzas for your group, you can buy already made plain pizza shells. If you want to impress while being the host, try this recipe, and watch while the fun times are made.

Homemade Pizza

What you will need:

Pizza dough:

▪ 1 1/3 Cup Warm Water

▪ 1/2 tsp Granulated Sugar

▪ 1 pkg Dry Yeast

▪ 2 tbsp Olive Oil

▪ 2 tsp Salt

▪ 3 1/2 Cups Sifted All-Purpose Flour

Make sure the water is warm, and not hot. The hot water will kill the yeast. In a large bowl, standing mixer bowl preferred, add the water and sugar, stirring well. Sprinkle the yeast packet over top of the water and let it stand for about 10 minutes. You may then add the olive oil and salt, mixing well. You will slowly want to start adding the flour while mixing. If you turn your mixer on, use the dough attachment, and mix on low speed. Mix until the dough becomes stiff, and with your hands pat it it to create a ball. Place the dough ball in a large bowl, covered, and let stand for about 10 minutes. This should make 2 medium sized pizza shells. Cut the dough in half and wrap each in Saran Wrap, then refrigerate until you are ready to roll out. Sprinkle flour on a clear and clean flat surface. Using your hands, knead out each dough to form a circle.

Homemade Pizza

Pizza sauce:

▪ 1 Can Whole & Peeled Tomatoes

▪ 1 Can Tomato Paste

▪ 2 Garlic Cloves

▪ 1 tsp Each Fresh Parsley and Sage Chopped

▪ 2 Sticks of Celery

▪ 2 tbsp Olive Oil

▪ 1 Small Red Onion

▪ Pinch of Black Pepper

▪ Pinch of Salt

Blend all ingredients together and then pour into a saucepan. On low-medium heat, cook sauce until it begins to thicken. This should take about 10-15 minutes. Once it is complete, you can spread on your pizza shells.

The best part about making homemade pizzas is that you can put whatever and however many toppings you want on top. No need to limit which toppings are your favourite like at a pizza restaurant. You and your group can put whatever you desire. Hopefully no pineapple, unless that’s your cup of tea. Once you figure out which toppings you want, don’t forget to chop, shred, dice, and place on your sauced pizza shells.

For best results, preheat your oven to 400 degrees, and on the middle rack cook for about 30-40 minutes. Don’t forget to check on your pizza amid laughs, and make sure the bottom is cooked to your satisfaction. Never forget to check on the bottom, because no one wants a soft bottom.
