While the rest of the northern hemisphere settles into winter, a little queer town is firing up to have another legendary festival for LGBT people. With the theme Youth Power for Change, Palm Springs Pride is turnin’ up the desert heat this November 1-4!
Palm Springs Pride has a something for everyone with an onslaught of activities for nearly everyone. Thursday November 1, 2018, will kick off Palm Springs Pride weekend with a nod to those who have come before us with the George Zander candlelight vigil and march at 6pm.
Saturday, November 2, there are already 8 official Pride events happening. Hotel Zoso will be hosting the Dip Into Pride Pool Party from noon – 6pm. From 4:30-6:30pm will the official Palm Springs Pride press event at the Infusion Beach Club. All gay resort CCBC will be hosting their annual Meet & Greet Party from 5pm- 4am. Kiehl’s Pride Celebration at Kielhl’s Palm Springs will be from 5pm-7pm.
Saturday will also see Trina Turk host the Trina Turk Pride Kick Off party from 6pm-8pm. The Temple Isaiah will be hosting Interfaith Shabbat Services at their Bochner Sanctuary from 6:30-8pm. The Spirit of Stonewall Street Party will be held on Arenas Road in downtown Palm Springs from 6pm-11pm, while the Pearl McManus Theatre at the Palm Springs Woman’s Club will present their “Double Time” musical revue from 6pm-8:30pm.
Get up bright and early November 3rdfor the annual Palm Springs Pride Run and Walk 5K through the Old Las Palmas District at 8am. From 10am-10pm, CCBC Resort will host their Saturday Pool Party. Palm Springs Pride Festival will be held in downtown Palm Springs from 11am-10pm on Saturday. The Palm Springs Dyke March, Picnic, Rally, and March will be in Frances Stevens park from noon-4pm. The Festival will feature LA-based electronica artist Madame Gandji with DJ sets by LA DJ Holly Adams, Glitter & Sand, and Gage Hanks. Live body painting by Whorlow Jones.
The V Palm Springs will be having their GED Pride Pool Party from noon-6pm. Want to Get Married in Palm Springs is an event for engaged gay couples looking to wed from 12-6pm. The Arenas Road Block Party goes from 6pm-11pm. Zelda’s will be hosting a show called ENCORE: A Celebration of American Idols from 6:30-9pm. Hotel Zoso will host the L-Fund Women’s Pride Dance from 7pm-midnight. The Pearl McManus Theatre will again present “Double Time” musical revue at 7pm-8:30pm in the PS Woman’s Club.
Sunday November 4 will see another early start to your day. At 8am the VIP Pre-Parade Breakfast will be hosted by the Desert Regional Medical Center at the El Mirador Tower until 9:45am. 849 will host their Champagne Pride Parade Brunch at 9am. The Transgender Equality March will kick off with the pride parade and go until 11:30 am. And the Pride Parade itself will be down Palm Canyon Drive from 10am-12 noon.
The festival will be packed with performers! GayC/DC, an AC/DC cover band, will be making an appearance. Chico’s Angels return for their annual performances. LGBT boy band Echo V and Z LaLa will be tearing up the stage with sickening sets. UK artist DYSON will be making her debut performance at Palm Springs Pride alongside LA songwriter Tom Goss. Everyman will be laying down some funk beats. The Trans Chorus of Los Angeles will be featured, as well as festival emcees Sarah Hudson, Jesse Saint John and Ferras, and Bella da Ball. Full performers include Alise King, Kayla Starr, Elisia Savorca, Palm Springs Gay Men’s Chorus, Rhyan Besco, Isaiah Grass, Jacob St. Aubin, Nikki Paige, and the Mojave Desert HEAD. DJ sets by Paul Cowling, DJ Femme A, DJ Galaxy, Ray Rhodes, DJ Casey Alva, Heabnasty, Filipe Brino, and DJ Vaughn Avakian.
Extra performances by Desert Rose Playhouse, Steven Michael Dance Machine, drag king Jesse Jones, drag queens Anita Rose, Candace Camera, Tommie Douglas, Cher-Javier, Marina Mac, Divas On The Dance Floor, Anita Treadmill, Iowna Mann, Kitt, Champagne Showers, Angelique Va Gorgeous, and many more; female vocalists, JB, Carol Kamenis, Keisha D, Francesca Amari; Eve Holmes; male vocalists Jerome Elliott, Doug Graham, Allan H. Jensen, Dan Westfall, Sean Taylor Jackson, Steven Michael, Kevin Miller, Willie Rene Guerrero, Larry Bennett, Jason Hull, Tony Romano, Robbie Wayne, and more.
The Lesbo Expo Launch Party will be held by Alibi Azul from 12-4pm. Want to Get Married in Palm Springs will again be in downtown from noon-6pm. The Palm Springs Pride Festival will begin in downtown at noon and run until 7pm that night.
Community activist and “indispensable volunteer duo” Tom Oliver and Matthew Stocker have been named as the Grand Marshalls of the parade along with the youth of the Coachella Valley, collectively.
