The French have a reputation for the extravagance they go to in their presentation of something. Whether it be food, clothing, or architecture, most things in France or French made are gorgeous and completely aesthetically pleasing. There is an art form to making everything so over the top extraordinarily stunning, and the French have nailed it. Especially when it comes to food and drinks.
This January, make like the people of France and treat yourself to a little bit of sophistication and regality while keeping yourself warm. The drink of choice for these cold winter months is the French Hot Chocolate, in honor of our Francophile friends. Like nearly everything in France, the French Hot Chocolate is a decadently exquisite cocktail designed with you and a bit of glamor in mind.
Just grab you biscottis, a loved one, and an warm fleece throw, and sit by the fireplace with glass of some luxurious French Hot Chocolate.
What you’ll need:
- 12 oz whole milk
- 6 oz chartreuse
- 4 oz brandy
- 2 oz dark chocolate
- 1 de-seeded and chopped vanilla bean
- Cinnamon stick
In a medium saucepan, combine milk, Chartreuse, brandy, chocolate, vanilla bean and seeds and cinnamon stick. Stir constantly over medium heat until chocolate is completely melted. Remove from the heat, discard the vanilla bean and whisk the hot chocolate until frothy. Ladle into warmed mugs or heatproof glasses and garnish with cinnamon.
