If you had to choose, would you prefer hairy or smooth? In a recent study of homosexual men, up to 73% of gays prefer a man that is well groomed versus hairy. Now, well-groomed can be defined as hairy, but clippered, and shaved as well. But are that many of you queens so obsessed with manscaping that you can’t embrace the au naturale side of a man? When it comes to hairy vs. smooth, do you really need to choose?
Depending on your own body type and what you’re into, you might be looking for silky smooth exposed skin or the ability to run your fingers through your lover’s chest or back hair. Thank the drag queen gods above that all men were made differently and that there is someone out there with the hair amount you desire. Just don’t begrudge a fella because of the way he keeps his body hair.
There are plenty of men’s grooming companies and products available, and certainly a push within the industry to reinforce the idea of the well-groomed gentleman. But that definition is certainly starting to change. Beards on men are more common place and allowed at the work place than they were ten years ago. Mustaches are making a comeback (why?!?). Men are still rocking everything with their hair from bald heads to dreadlocks to man buns to buzz cuts to rockabilly waves to faux hawks and pompadours.
Men’s style in regard to the hair on their heads and bodies is evolving so fast, it is hard to keep up. While there are a lot more of these products for body hair removal than there are for body hair maintenance, care, and TLC, that doesn’t mean either option is better than the other. Really, you don’t have to choose between being completely hairy or smooth with assortment of men’s products available.
When it comes to hairy versus smooth, your best bet is to just do you, boo. If you want to keep your hairy back, butt, legs, and chest, then do it. If you feel like shaving your entire body or just clipper/trimming regionally; go live your best life. Not everyone has the ability to grow body hair and some folks feel they grow too much. So, the best thing for you to do is embrace yourself and what you’re into. Whether it be hairy or smooth.
