For the 50thanniversary of the Stonewall riots, and in conjunction with NYC Pride, New York City is hosting WorldPride 2019. Already deemed a pride celebration for the ages, WorldPride has announced a hot group of entertainers ready to take the party to the next level. New York already knows how to party, but everyone should be thrilled with the announcement that gay icon Grace Jones will be headlining the music festival at Pier 97, Saturday, June 28, 2019. The legendary singer, songwriter, actress, model, activist diva is known for movies “Boomerang”, “Vamp”, and “Conan the Destroyer”, and multiple dance club hits like “Pull Up to the Bumper”, “Slave to the Rhythm”, “Love is the Drug”, “I Need a Man”, “I’m Not Perfect”, and her acclaimed version of Edith Piaf’s “La Vie En Rose”.

R&B singer Teyana Taylor will be performing, bringing her flavor of New York vogueing and ballroom to life at WorldPride 2019. K.T.S.E., her second album produced by Kanye West, debuted at #2 to critical worldwide success. Expect some fierceness to come with any performance by Teyana Taylor: actress, model, dancer, singer, choreographer, and fitness extraordinaire.

One of 2018’s biggest hits was the Portuguese electronic song “Sua Cara” produced by Major Lazer. What isn’t well known is that the vocals for “Sua Cara” were done by Brazil’s most famous drag queen and fellow WorldPride 2019 performer: Pabllo Vittar. Nominated for a Latin Grammy, Pabllo Vittar became the first drag queen to be nominated while also snagging a “Best Brazilian Act” nom at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Amara La Negra, the Afro-Latina pop diva sensation taking the American mainstream spotlight by storm, is also set to perform, alongside NYC DJ Johnny Dynell. Amara La Negra, known for hit songs “Insecure” and “What a Bam Bam” will delight any audience, while DJ Johnny Dynell will have everyone wrapping up Saturday night pride island music festival for WorldPride 2019 by dancing.

Sunday’s performance list is still developing, but DJ Abel and DJ Morabito have been announced as two of the confirmed artists for Sunday’s talent lineup.
