“I’m from a time where I had someone to bounce ideas off of,” said Nicole Paige Brookes in a recent interview with HomoCulture, while reminiscing of crafting garments at home and on Ru Paul’s Drag Race Season 2. “I got sent home being portrayed as the last thing I wanted to be shown as.”
If blurry filter serves correctly, RPDRS2 was “filmed in a closet” according to Brooks when thinking about how far drag race has come since her elimination from RPDR S2 episode 2. The main challenge was for the two groups to and either entertain an all-male crowd through a burlesque act/strip tease or stroll the streets of Hollywood in full drag, during the daytime. NPB, was the weakest performer and person from her team, who was ultimately in the bottom two. NPB was sent home with the moments to be cherished with her son Lukas, who is now 14 years old.
Nicole Paige Brooks, best known to her fans as NPB, or Bryan Christopher Pryor, began her drag career during the “birth of a 1,000 drag queens” best known as Halloween. Bryan, who is 46, began performing and exploring the craft of drag under his drag mother, Shawnna Brooks, House of Brooks, Atlanta, GA.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Season. 2, loud, bitchy, Type A personalities reuniting to do it all over again would be a sight to see for TV. NPB made it clear, she was more reserved to protect her son Lukas, who at the time of her appearance on RPDRS2 was about 5. However, going back, she’d be more prepared to act, sing and give what is needed to be a victor in her perceived contestant formula. Brooks said, “I’m not worried about at 6ft 14-year-old getting picked on.”
Brooks lead on to say that she’d “recast her fellow season 2 queens.” Sonique and Mystique Summers easily came to mind. Sonique and NPB had a prior friendship which made it refreshing to see someone with familiarity on set. Mystique Summers also floats in the same circle as NPB, so they have become really close.
Nicole Paige Brooks was not in for a Kai-Kai (romance between drag queens) with Raven, even though it was portrayed in her season. NPB also added that, according to her knowledge, she was the first Atlanta Queen to step foot in the RPDR Werk Room.
Violet Chacki, a fellow Atlanta resident, is her favorite RuPaul Drag Race winner. NPB said female and male alter ego appearances in Chicago P.D. (2014) and Insatiable (2018) can be seen for anyone looking. NPB added, “with additional appearances in projects to be released.”
NPB leaves us with some inspirational moments and a few other exciting facts. Not afraid of her own opinion NPB dishes out the perfect amount of drag, cattiness, and appeal that everyone loves.
