vMan, LA promised, and boy are they delivering! LA Pride is pulling out all of the stops this year in order to bring the best possible Pride festival possible to the City of Angels. A new, free, all ages welcomed opening ceremonies concert is the biggest change for LA Pride this year, which will kick off the pride weekend with a special event meant to include everyone with rainbow fever. Now, with the announcement that legendary performer Paula Abdul set to headline the opening ceremonies, LA Pride is solidifying its commitment to bring West Hollywood one hellova pride fest!
A long time supporter of the LGBT community, Paula Abdul has been a household name for three decades.
“I am so happy to be a part of this year’s LA Pride Festival and to celebrate this year’s theme, #JUSTUNITE,” said Paula Abdul. “Throughout the course of my career, the LGBTQ+ community has stood behind me, and I’m honored to now have the opportunity to show my support and gratitude by performing at this year’s Opening Ceremony. I’m hoping the night will be a chance for all generations of the community to come together to celebrate one another and the work that has been done.”
There will be plenty of entertainment for the opening ceremonies, including guest speakers, more to-be-announced performers, a WeHo Vogue Ball, drag show, DJ’s, and plenty of dancing as the boystown part of the West Hollywood bar strip is transformed into a block party for everyone. The Opening Ceremony is a place for the community to gather before the festival in a celebration of love and unity.
Paula Abdul should need no introduction to anyone. The singer, songwriter, dancer, kooky fun American Idol judge, Emmy, and Grammy winner has been entertaining longer than we want to recall. A stalwart advocate for LGBT, Paula Abdul is the perfect choice of a performer to kick off LA Pride to a great start.
LA Pride Opening Ceremony is Friday, June 7 and is free and open to the public. A great way to either dive in head first or dip your toe in the pride pond, this special night featuring Paula Abdul as headliner is going to be extra awesome.
