But here is why you need to take your gay honeymoon in France, and how to make the most of your time in a beautiful, romantic, and loving country. 

Start with gay Paris. This amazing city is full of life. One of the top activities to do in Paris is to sit at a café, drink wine and people watch. This is a fantastic way to get over your jetlag but settle into the culture right away. Paris has many famous attractions worth viewing. The Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, and of course all the amazing avenues for shopping. Check out any of the other famous museums or even visit the catacombs.

Make a day of it by taking the train out to Versailles and take a romantic stroll through the beautiful gardens and check out a wonder of French history. What is a honeymoon without celebrating, so start off with a glass of champagne on the rooftop of Pompidou just before closing, move on to a late romantic dinner at any of the amazing restaurants nearby, then head out dancing at any of the amazing gay bars.

Plan to travel and explore the entire country of France. You can purchase a France Rail pass and access almost the entire country by train. You’ll get to sit back and take in the beautiful countryside and experience the fast trains. This will be the most cost-effective way to get around the country on your own.

It can also be affordable to rent a car. One option is to rent a car at the end of the Paris part of your trip and drop it off in Nice to fly home. There are several options that don’t charge one way drop rates and have affordable car rental rates. Keep in mind that if you know how to drive a manual (standard) transmission, you will pay less for the rental. The great thing about this option is you can go anywhere. It is recommended to get a GPS plug in the next city you want to visit and tell it to avoid highways and toll routes. You’ll see some of the most stunning country and beautiful little towns.

Once you’ve decided the mode of transport it is best to plan out where to go. There are many regions, and they are all spectacular. For a two week trip the best suggestion is to start heading south and fly home from Nice. You can see many great wineries and cute little villages along the way. Break up the trip by staying in Vienne near Lyon, and checking out some of the Roman ruins and wineries in the countryside.

Head down next and explore Avignon, a mediaeval walled city with lots to explore. Don’t forget to spend a few nights in Aix-en-Provence, the food scene here is great, and the city is central to so many quaint villages. From here you can check out Bonnieux a little village on a hill looking over an incredible valley. Close by you can check out Roussillon, which is a terraced city in many famous French photos. Throughout this whole region you will pass wineries and lavender fields, and some of the most picturesque scenery you’ve ever seen.

Finally make your way down to the French Riviera towards Nice. Some notable stops include St Tropez where you can feel like a star and do some luxury shopping. Grasse where you can buy some great fragrances where most of the worlds perfumes and colognes are designed. Juan le Pin where you can have a beautiful romantic patio dinner at La Passagere right on the Mediterranean.

Ultimately you can fly into any major city and home from another and see anywhere in between. There really isn’t a bad region in France. There are a lot of gay B&B’s and hotels across France you can stay. You can also do AirBnB but use due-dilligence as you would in any other country to make sure there are good reviews and seem legitimate to avoid scams rentals. For a more upscale, convenient, and easy options,  there are many wonderful boutique hotels, chateau stays, and all kinds of accommodations you can chose from.

Make sure to do a bit of research and speak to your travel agent to plan a romantic and relaxing trip. A good travel tip is to avoid travel in August because the majority of people in France take the month off for vacation, making the roads busy, and lots of businesses will be closed.
