The gay community has survived over the last few thousands of years. From going to virtually fully accepted in some cultures to being hunted and persecuted in the last 100 years up until fighting for queer rights the last 50 years. LGBT people have seen the struggle up front and personal leading up to today, where full rights for LGBT people are denied in nearly every country on the planet.
With this year marking the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and the unofficial start of the modern LGBT rights struggle, it’s time for the community to go on a path of healing. A period of reflection is needed to see where we’ve come and the progress that has been made. It will be through healing that queer people are able to live life and forgive the past for the hardships everyone has endured.
