One of the highlight events of Kelowna Pride is the annual Kelowna’s Next Drag Superstar competition. This year, Kelowna Pride is bringing back this epic pageant for another fabulous night of drag, laughs, and community. Friday, June 21, 2019, Kelowna Pride is happy to announce the return of Kelowna’s Next Drag Superstar, including celebrity host judge, two-time RuPaul Drag Race contestant, Cynthia Lee Fontaine.
Kelowna Pride is bringing the catwalk to Sapphire Nightclub as Kelowna’s Next Drag Superstar over pride weekend. This is a non-gender binary competition. Anyone can enter and all variations of drag are welcomed. The pageant will crown a runner up: the gender-neutral title of Drag Prince, and the winner: Kelowna’s Next Drag Superstar.
Doors open and the drinks start pouring at 7:00pm with the main event starting at 8:00pm. Local drag legend Sparkle, who was the first winner of Okanagan Pride’s annual drag competition, will be the mistress of ceremonies and hostess of the evening.
Two-time RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant and Miss Congeniality winner Cynthia Lee Fontaine is the celebrity judge for Kelowna’s next Drag Superstar. Known as one of the standouts of Drag Race seasons 8 and 9, Cynthia Lee Fontaine will bring her smarts, wit, and drag expertise to the judge’s panel.
