These days, it’s almost impossible not to stare at a screen, especially if you live in the city and have a desk job in an office. Most people today look at their computers during work hours and, once they are done with work, they look at their smartphones or laptops at home. These gadgets have become such an important part of our lives that some people simply can’t live or function without a daily dose of technology. For some, a smartphone screen is the last thing they see before they go to sleep and the first thing they look at when they wake up. If you are the same way with your gadgets, it’s definitely time to take a little break from using your devices. Here are 5 signs you need a digital detox.

Your Smartphone Prevents You From Eating Well

Today, people use their smartphones when they are on the toilet, at work, in bed, and even while they are eating. If you too are not able to eat the things you love and really enjoy food because you are using your smartphone, it’s time for a digital detox. In case you can’t resist using your phone while eating, don’t keep it in your pocket. Leave it in a different room and you will be able to commit to your meal in a proper way. Not having a phone in your one hand will allow you to make your meals better. This will give you a chance to try new things, like acai powder and other different spices and ingredients. Not looking at your smartphone while you are eating will definitely improve your diet.

You Are Not Sleeping Well

Most people these days use their smartphones when they go to bed. This means that the phone screen is the last thing they see before they go to sleep. If you too spend hours on your social media accounts and your sleep suffers because of it, it’s time to change this habit. The next time you go to bed, leave your phone on the nightstand and try reading a book. Trust us, this will help you sleep better.

You Are Not Getting Anything Done

Using a smartphone at work is not recommended because it might have a negative effect on a worker’s productivity. So, if you can’t get anything done because you are too busy checking your phone every five minutes, it’s definitely time for a digital detox. If you want to be productive, make sure to leave your smartphone in your bag when you get to work.

You Use Your Phone While Watching The TV

People these days simply can’t live without technology. They come back from work and put on the TV, but this is usually not enough entertainment for them. So, they decide to text or tweet while watching TV. If you too have the need to use your phone while sitting in front of your TV, this might mean that you have a short attention span. In this case, you should definitely consider taking a little break from your devices.

You Don’t Talk To People At Parties

Just to be clear, if you are not talking to people at parties because you are a shy person, it’s fine. However, if you don’t talk to your friends because you are too busy looking at your smartphone, then you might have a problem. If you want to quit this nasty habit, all you have to do is leave your phone in your pocket and talk to real people in front of you. Trust us, you will be surprised to see how fun and inspiring a real life conversation can be. Therefore, forget about your phone and try your best to experience your life.
