Queers, listen up. Peak Pride SilverStar is your very last opportunity to attend a Pride event in 2019, and the first Pride of the 2019-2020 ski season! This is a big deal. What’s more, is that this is the inaugural Peak Pride at SilverStar, and to celebrate every single Peak Pride SilverStar event this year is entirely free!
Taking place at SilverStar Mountain Resort in the interior of British Columbia, Peak Pride is North America’s freshest winter Pride destination event series. Peak Pride has built itself a name of producing multi-day Pride events at western Canada’s premier ski resorts with line-up of activities ranging from family-friendly day time fun, to engaging social nightlife supporting local talent. This combination sets this Pride series apart from any other.
A popular ski vacation destination, SilverStar is openly welcoming the LGBT+ community for Peak Pride. Hosted December 6-8, Peak Pride SilverStar will unite the community and produce a weekend of fabulous events to remember.
Here is the complete line-up of events, entertainment, and activities planned for Peak Pride SilverStar:
Friday, December 6
‘Alone in the Game’ screening, 7:00-8:30pm
At 7pm, the documentary ‘Alone in the Game’ screens, chronicling LGBTQ+ athletes performing at elite levels across all sports from collegiate to Olympic caliber. Several prominent athletes from the NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB, and more give insight into the expansive world and business side of sports as exclusion, discrimination, and bigotry loom large within the organizations. The documentary also features closeted athletes sharing their personal anecdotes about competing in current times. The screening highlights the progress made in the sports world in recent years as well as the work that still must be done. The viewing is a free event that not only resonates but inspires the community to do more.
Welcome Party, 9:00pm-1:00am
Kicking off the weekend of festivities, the Welcome Party is the first event of the weekend to kick up your heels and mingle and get to know other Peak Pride participants. Headlined by Boff the DJ, the spinster has hurled his sonic might in clubs from Vancouver to Sydney, and the dancefloor is sure to be packed until the lights come on.
Saturday, December 7th
Mountain Parade, 2:30-3:00pm
Grab your Pride flags and dress in your most colorful outfits! After you wake up and enjoy a leisurely breakfast, take some turns through the Okanagan powder snow, meet at the top of the mountain at the Vance Creek summit to join the ski/snowboard Pride parade down Milky Way. Pedestrians will join the group prior to entering the village, creating a magical Pride parade into the village. While everyone is together in the village center, the memory will be captured with a large group photo in the village center.
Aprés Ski, 3:00pm-5:00pm
Following a day on the mountain, a day of mimosas, snowmobiling, or treatments at the spa, and of course the Mountain Parade, head to The Den to enjoy cocktails and the warm and welcoming ambiance inside. Share stories of the day, meet new friends, and enjoy delicious cocktails.
wipeOUT , 8:00pm-1:00pm
Closing out the weekend is wipeOUT, the inclusive nightlife event that will be the place to chat up new friends and faces as the music pulsates and the performers deliver. Along with a theme this year at The Den, featured performers on the schedule include sultry diva Ella Lamoureux, and the fish queen of the Okanagan, Freida Whales. These are two drag queens that know how to enchant an audience, so consider yourself warned! After the drag performances, DJ ShAdo – who has opened for the likes of Coolio and Snoop Dogg – will spin the night away well into the morning.
Peak Pride is proud to yet again bring this exciting event to the LGBT+ community and is ready to welcome the members of all gender identities, sexual orientation, race, and religious beliefs.
