Rising pop star Josey Greenwell has just released the lead-off single ‘102’ the lead track to the forthcoming album City Games, scheduled for release later this year. ‘102’ features Philup Banks and is available across all major streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, and more. The NYC-based pop singer provided insight into the creative process for the single as well as the full-length album:
“This is the first track released working with my new producer Daneon, who did a few tracks for my forthcoming album,” said Josey Greenwell. “We co-wrote this song about the feelings of ‘compare and despair’ with seeing everyone online living lavishly, when in reality that’s not their truth. It’s a play on the phrase “keep it 100,” but the song’s BPM is a chill 102 so, keep it chill and keep it real!”
The native from Kentucky took his passion for music to Nashville in the hopes of pursuing a career as singer-songwriter. After years of working in honky-tonks and unfulfilled dreams, Josey set his guitar aside and decided to return to his other love of fitness, then took the plunge to relocate to New York.
Now, he is recognized as one of New York’s most prominent fitness instructors and his love for singing and songwriting has not diminished. Greenwell has now stepped back into the music lane in a big way, with artistic inspiration at full throttle as he releases his first full-length album in more than a decade. City Games is a slick pop offering that draws inspiration from the Big Apple and is already being heralded as a sonic surprise for the pop genre.
