The new year rolls in and so do your resolutions for a better and improved you. But for most of us, those exquisitely laid plans tend to falter and fizzle by March. The stereotypical themes include improved fitness, finances, and for many of us, fuckbuddies. Although there’s nothing wrong with any of these, the truth is?

The majority of us fail to see most of these plans through, with more than half of us failing and waiting until the next year to make new resolutions that we can dream about.

But this year?

HomoCulture is here to give you some suggestions on some tried-and-true resolutions, some new ones you may not have ever heard of or thought to consider, and even better, how to stick to them through the entire year. Are you ready? Let’s go!

Enroll in an Adult Learning Class

With so many college students social distancing this year, now would be the ideal time to enroll in an adult learning class that you can take online from the comfort of home. There are many colleges probably in your area alone that offer classes for adults. Many of these classes run for a few weeks and are a great opportunity to sharpen your skills, pick up a completely new one, or just socialize with a new set of people. Popular courses to check out include photography courses, cooking classes, creative writing, and personal finance tutorials. Just think – in only a few months, you will have something new to add to your arsenal!

Making Amends

Whether it involves friends, family, or even co-workers, sometimes time is all that is necessary to enable someone to make peace with what happened in the past. If you are feeling emotionally generous, perhaps you may be open to making amends with those that used to be integral parts of your life. This is a case by case decision that everyone has to make on their own. But if you’re up to it, it could be one of the best resolutions you’ve ever delved into.

Investment Goals

Saving money is always an ambitious goal and for 2021, stay true to the investment game by selecting an app that can save you a few coins throughout the year. There is no reason why you can’t set aside a few dollars every month that compile interest and leave you with a nice nest egg in a few years!

Losing COVID Weight

Did you put on the dreaded COVID-15 like many of us while in quarantine? Well, if you did, you can use the new year to enroll in a fitness regimen that sheds those unwanted pounds to reveal a slimmer, svelter you in 5, 4, 3, 2…

Volunteer Work

The mantra ‘pay it forward’ is a great one to adopt next year, and you can start by doing some charity work at a local non-profit organization, or volunteer your time and money by donating food, tutoring some students, or giving clothes to underprivileged people. Alternately, you could volunteer your time at an animal shelter or a hospital. There are a myriad of ways that you can engage in charity and volunteer work that will give you the feels inside.

Quit Smoking

Throw those cancer sticks away for good! Everyone knows that smoking can seriously damage your health from your lungs to your skin to your sex game and who needs any of THAT? Sure, smoking is addictive, but strive to quit and elevate your health in the new year.

Set Your Goals, Now

SMART:  Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely

In other words, keep track of your goals and be sure to review them as you go through the year. It’s hard to stay on task and we all need nudges and tender reminders, so don’t be so hard on yourself. Post supportive words to yourself all around the house to stay motivated. Don’t forget that you can always incentivize yourself to success. It will feel amazing knowing that you pulled off an entire year standing by your goals and seeing them to fruition. Nothing could be more satisfying and HomoCulture is ready to congratulate you on your future success in 2021!
