Brunch brings people together. It provides an avenue for friends to gather and share tales of the previous night’s escapades and conquests or just the opportunity to catch up while enjoying a meal.

Guy Beringer, an English author, came up with the idea back in 1895 in his essay – Brunch: A Plea.

According to Berringer, brunch would assist those nursing hangovers, especially over the weekends. Instead of a heavy breakfast, revellers could enjoy a hybrid midday meal followed by tea and pastries.

The Bruschetta Cocktail goes down well with any brunch meal and can be served on other occasions. The presence of tomatoes, olive juice and garlic, makes it perfect for curing that lingering hangover.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Stoli Gold
  • ¼ oz green olive juice
  • 3 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 basil leaf
  • Slice of garlic
  • Salt and pepper

Muddle cherry tomatoes in the bottom of a cocktail glass. Add remaining ingredients and a cup of ice. Shake well—strain into a salt-rimmed highball glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge and fresh basil leaves.
