Halloween is the biggest holiday for adults in the year, and the LGBTQ+ takes this one night to go all in and show all out in costumes that range from the not so innocent to the hilt of debauchery. Since we have all been locked indoors for nearly two years, 2021 is destined to be one for the ages, with classic costumes and trending ones all converging to a naughty mix that will be memorable for all. HomoCulture curates some costume ideas that may be just up your alley on this ghoulish night!

1) Batman Characters

The great thing about Batman is that there are generations of history behind the characters associated with the comic book, with many variations that range from the ultimate camp (The Joker, The Riddler, George Clooney’s iteration of Batman) to the overly butch (Tom Hardy’s Bane, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze). If you are going out as an ensemble, everyone in your entourage can take a shot this year at their favorite character, so don’t forget Harley Quinn and other fan favorites. This is a great way to show off your assets in some leather and spandex, always crowd pleasers!

2) Demonic Drag Demons

The devil is always in the details, and no Halloween can be complete without some version of a demonic demon walking and lurking on streets. Satan is always recruiting and here is the perfect opportunity to audition a look or two that plays up this dynamic. Choose between a sexy demon all dolled up for a night of carnal pleasures or opt for a more grotesque approach that brings chills to people’s spines for the holiday. It’s your decision to make, but be sure to carry through and execute!

3) Gay Ghostbusters

When there’s something strange in your gayborhood, who ya gon’ call? Ghostbusters!

If you are traveling in a pack for Halloween and need a costume idea that works for a few people, the Ghostbusters are a serious consideration that is easy to pull off. Go the authentic route with the traditional 80s getup or put your own spin on it with a little skin showing here and there. Stay in character and maybe someone will call on your group for a little assistance before the clock strikes midnight!

4) Naughty Angels

This is the time of year to remind people that the devil is simply a fallen angel. This is the one night where even the real angels can let their halo get as dented as they want. Show some skin, poke someone with your wings, and fly away to lasciviousness as you wish. Wear something white and skimpy that leaves very little to the imagination and know that on this night, everyone is allowed to sin just a bit. And finally? Do NOT forget the glitter!

5) Pray Tell

Category is ‘Halloween realness’!

The show may have recently concluded, but that is no reason why you can’t resurrect the best parts of the already iconic show and its cast of characters. Leading the bunch is none other than Billy Porter, who nabbed a historical Emmy for portraying the leader of an elite gang of brilliantly talented KWEENS on the scene of 1980s and early 90s ballroom culture. If you can find the right lewk, the right verbal slap, and the right sashay? Costume suggestions to pull off this courageous persona include possibly a sequined dress, a feather boa, a wig that rivals one from The Supremes in the 1960s, and sky-high heels!

Then snatch your LIFE, darling!

6) Lil Nas X

Formerly known as ‘the Halloween stripper look’, men can now throw their own version into the mix thanks to Generation Z’s biggest pop star. The look can involve a few variations, including leather chaps and a cowboy hat, devil’s horns and skimpy underwear, feathered wings, silvered necklaces, or even a glitterati catsuit. Customize it based on your body type and comfort level.

7) Playboy Bunny

The Easter bunny is about to get ramped up to the naughty side this Halloween, and a sure-fire way to add an extra dimension to the wholesome image of the bunny is through the Playboy Mansion. Make Hugh Hefner proud in a bunny suit that works for both men and women. Kink up your bunny with a fluffy little tail, pointed ears, and a spandex body suit that will have hearts racing throughout the night.

8) Wonder Woman

As a symbol of sapphic empowerment, Wonder Woman will always be a favorite for Halloween, and in 2021, she can be joined with her Amazonian sisters in tow. Aside from the iconic superhero, a group of women can appear as her mother Hippolyta, or any of the fabulous female warriors that inhabit Themiscyra. There’s even room for a Steve Trevor too if you care to add some male energy into the mix.

9) The Sexy Fireman

Another classic look that never gets old is the fireman’s costume. For the rugged men that want to look butch and sexy all at the same time, this is the perfect outfit to get everyone hot and bothered on Halloween. Complete the look with a fireman’s cap, fireman’s shorts or suspenders, hiker boots, and a chest harness that will have mena dn women swooning on the streets and in the clubs.

10) Police Officer

This is the one night of the year where you may want to be handcuffed by the boys (and girls) in blue! Enforce the law and then break it in a standard police costume that you can modify as you wish to ooze just the right amount of sex appeal. However, you choose to go about this classic Halloween costume, the one thing you don’t want to forget are the handcuffs as they’ll come in handy later. Just trust us!

You have a few weeks to decide on a costume for this year’s Halloween festivities. Honorable mentions this year include Harley Quinn, the Dora Milaje, Wanda & Vision, Cruella, Donald Trump, and the cast of ‘Hamilton’.
