The first winner of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, has returned with another blockbuster EP that includes some of her favorite classic covers, many of which have been performed on her talk show. Kellyoke is available now on Atlantic Records and includes standout covers of Billie Eilish’s ‘Happier Than Ever’, Whitney Houston’s ‘Queen of the Night’, and several others that are a mix of timeless classics and modern-day hits.
The six-track EP is a no-brainer for the Grammy winner, especially when factoring in the popularity of her renditions on The Kelly Clarkson Show, which regularly has her covering pop hits from the 60s to current hit singles.
‘Kellyoke’ Is A Natural Extension of Clarkson’s Talk Show
With more than 500 songs covered on her daytime talk show, Clarkson’s penchant for putting her own spin on musical classics with her band, Y’all, has become a hit with her viewers and long-term fans alike.
Clarkson is known for taking requests during her live show, and her reiterations under a collaborative effort with music director Jason Halbert have been praised as among the best things to happen in daytime television. When asked about how music affects her talk show, Clarkson stated:
“Music is in the DNA of everything I do, so when ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ started we knew it was the perfect way to kick off every episode. Over 500 songs later, and we’re still not running out of amazing artists to pay tribute to. Picking just six was near-impossible, but these songs have been some of my favorites.”
New EP Is Highly Anticipated Release from Pop Singer
Since winning the inaugural season of American Idol in 2002, Kelly Clarkson has continued to tank as one of the most important pop artists of the modern era, first claiming the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts with her debut single ‘A Moment Like This’.
To date, Clarkson has 19 singles that have been certified platinum or multi-platinum worldwide, including fan favorites ‘Because of You’ and ‘Miss Independent’. Over the course of her 20-year career, Clarkson has remained busy, releasing nine studio albums, a greatest hits album, and two children’s books.
In addition to her three Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, and two Country Music Awards, she also has two daytime Emmys to her credit. Additionally, Clarkson is the first artist ever to top each of Billboard’s pop, adult contemporary, country, and dance charts. Her talk show is currently in its third season and has been picked up for a fourth.
