Broadway Across Canada has got a treat lined-up for theatre fans in 2023! The Fiddler on the Roof is an Oscar-winning Broadway musical about life in the Jewish community, and Broadway Across Canada will debut the show across Canada in 2023. The Fiddler On The Roof is about a poor milkman who has five daughters. He’s determined to find them good husbands and consults a matchmaker. Things get interesting when he also has a private word with God in this endeavor.

The film was produced by beloved Tony-winner Joseph Stein and Pulitzer Prize winners Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. The production for Broadway Across Canada is being directed by Bartlett Sher, a Tony award Winner who also produced To Kill a Mockingbird, South Pacific and The King and I. And the show is being choreographed by an acclaimed Israeli choreographer, Hofesh Schechter.

The characters in the production are also well known in the performing arts community for their performances. You can count on eye catching performances by Johnathan Hashmonay as Teyve. Teyve is the dairyman and the main character in this production. Maite Uzal is Golde. Golde is the wife of Teyve and a traditionalist faced with the changes of the new world. Lazar Wolf, one of the potential husbands for one of Teyve’s daughters is being played by Randa Meierhenry.

The best part about Fiddler On The Roof is the music accompanying the production of the play. The music by Jerry Bock makes use of ample dominant seventh notes with added flat ninths. The most popular songs from the production, Sunrise Sunset, Sabbath Prayer and Anatevka are played in minor keys. Basically, there’s a little something for everyone’s musical taste. If you have a knack for noticing various notes and an appreciation for a variety of musical notes, you will love this musical.

On top of the various keys and notes played throughout the musical, much of the music you’ll hear are adaptations of Russian and Jewish music. The play sets itself up to be loved by anyone who wants a rich cultural experience.

The original Broadway production took place in 1964. The production was the first of its kind to surpass 3,00 performances. The production is tried, true and tested for culture and entertainment. Just a year after being released the production won a Tony award for Best musical. Subsequently the show went on to win eight other Tony awards in 1965.

John Gore is a leader in touring productions across the North American continent. They operate in more than 45 markets and have more than 400,000 subscribers.
