Hosting a gay brunch is like hosting a party—you want it to be fun, but also elegant and on-point.

If you’re hosting the brunch in your home, here are some tips on how to pull it off:

1. Watch a holiday comedy: You’re probably sick of hearing this, but there’s no better way to deal with holiday depression than by watching your favourite holiday comedy. There’s nothing like a good laugh to take the edge off and help you forget about all the things that suck about being an LGBTQ person during the holidays.

2. Spend your day in service to a cause or charity: Now that you’re feeling a little low this holiday season, why not spend your day helping out those less fortunate than yourself. Volunteer at an orphanage or soup kitchen for some food for thought and maybe even some money. Likewise, organize a local fundraiser for a charity of your choice. It will give you something positive to focus on during this stressful time and help spread awareness about issues affecting marginalized groups in society.

3. Throw an orphan Christmas get-together: When you’re feeling a little down this holiday season, throw a party for the kids who can’t make it home for Christmas. You’ll feel better when you see their smiles on the faces of children who have never been able to celebrate Christmas before.

4. Take a walk: There are lots of ways to take care of yourself when you’re feeling depressed. One is walking outside in nature and getting some fresh air, which is always good for our health and happiness. Don’t be afraid to do something that makes you happy—even if it’s just going for a short walk around your neighbourhood or neighbourhood park.

5. Lastly, you can put on some Christmas music, and make yourself a delicious Blue Christmas cocktail, and sit by the fire with some friends who love you just as much as you love them; because no matter how hard it gets during the holidays, this cocktail will help you forget about your sad holiday blues!
