The COVID-19 pandemic has kept friends and families apart for the past two holiday seasons. It has been difficult to find time for our loved ones, and it has been even harder to make merry with those we care about.

Make this year extra special by making time for friends and family, and giving back to those in need. They deserve a little celebration of their own, after all.

Here are five ways you can help:

1. Donate your time and drop off gifts at a homeless shelter for LGBTQ+ youth: LGBTQ+ youth face many challenges in life, but it’s important to remember that they deserve a little celebration of their own, too. That’s why volunteering at an LGBTQ+ organization that provides services to the community is a great way to give back.

2. Volunteer at an LGBTQ+ organization that provides services to the community: You don’t have to be an expert or work full-time for an LGBTQ+ organization; you can just show up once in a while. That’s what makes volunteering so rewarding — you get a chance to make a difference in someone else’s life.

3. Take someone out to dinner or buy them a gift card: This is a great way to show them how much you care about them, and it’s also a great way to get together with friends who may not be able to spend as much time together during the holidays.

4. Volunteer at a soup kitchen: You can make a difference by simply serving hot meals and snacks to people who might otherwise go hungry. Check out your local food bank or soup kitchen to find out what volunteer opportunities they have available.

5. Visit an animal shelter: This is another great way to give back—you can adopt a pet from the local animal shelter, or visit them regularly to bring them treats, take them for walks, or just chat with the staff

This holiday, be anything but a scrooge. It’s all about having good intentions and spreading the festive cheer to those who need it most. And once you’ve got your holiday spirit up, you can be sure to keep going with the Holidays cocktail. Like the festive season itself, it packs a bit of everything: warmth, joy, and good cheer!
