Lizzo, Brandi Carlile, & Steve Lacy lead the queer nominees at the 2023 Grammys!

The nominations for the 2023 Grammy Awards have been announced, and there are a host of brilliant LGBTQ+ artists who have been honored with the coveted award nomination. Here’s a look at the the list of LGBTQ lineup of nominations for the 2023 Grammy Awards.

Brandi Carlile

After being nominated for seven Grammys this year, Brandi Carlile’s fame climbed to twenty-five. She has been nominated this year for six awards. ‘In These Silent Days’ and ‘You and Me on the Rock’ are nominated for Grammys this year (featuring Lucius). Her fans will be rooting for her all night as she is nominated for Rock Performance, Rock Song, Americana Performance, Americana Album, and American Roots Song.

Lizzo

One of the breakout stars the last few years, Lizzo was nominated for five Grammy awards this year: Album of the Year, Pop Vocal album, Record of the year, and Song of the Year for ‘About Damn Time’, and Best Pop Solo Performance. Three Grammy Awards were already bestowed upon the singer, and she is expected to win even more.

Steve Lacy

Lacy’s first major nominations were for Record and Song of the Year for Bad Habits.  This year, he’s nominated for Pop Solo Performance and Progressive R&B Album. Before his 2020 nomination for Apollo XXI, his first solo album, he was nominated twice with The Internet.

Sam Smith & Kim Petras

For their smash hit ‘Unholy’, Petras received her maiden Grammy nomination and Smith received his seventh. In 2015, Smith’s first album, In the Lonely Hour, received a Grammy nod and the song ‘Stay With Me’ won the award.

Kaytranada

Kaytranada has been nominated for a Grammy Award for three consecutive years. In the category of Best Dance/Electronic Recording, he is up against Intimidated with H.E.R. In 2021, he took home two trophies.

Lady Gaga

Two additional Grammy nominations came Mother Monster’s way in 2019, including Best Song Written for Visual Media for ‘Hold My Hand’ from the Top Gun: Maverick Soundtrack. The soundtrack she worked on has earned her a nomination for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

Brothers Osborne

The Brothers have been nominated for a Grammy for the tenth time. This honor is for the best country duo/group performance of ‘Midnight Rider’s Prayer’. For their song ‘Younger Me’, which was released in 2020, they won a Grammy in that year.

Randy Rainbow

The Grammys have recognized Randy Rainbow with a nomination for Best Comedy Album. Among the other competitors are Patton Oswalt, Jim Gaffigan, suspected sexual offender Louis C.K., and fanatical transphobe Dave Chappelle. 

Omar Apollo

Apollo received his first Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. He has been nominated for a Latin Grammy twice before.
