South Beach is a gorgeous part of Miami Beach, featuring beautiful beaches, amazing art, and decadent food! It’s a stylish and trendy location that showcases Latin American culture with a plethora of restaurants, an amazing shopping district on Lincoln Road, and plenty of bars and nightclubs.
Located within walking distance of the beaches is the Moxy South Beach hotel! It’s bright, colorful, and dripping with Miami flare! Gorgeous decor fills the hotel and gives you a taste of the Latin American culture that resonates within the local community.
Samba Sunday is a fun and exciting rooftop event hosted every weekend, providing entertainment with a traditional samba band, and professional dancers in traditional carnival attire. A stay at the Moxy Hotel is a perfect, picturesque, and glamorous way to spend your time in Miami and Miami Beach.
The rooms are colorful and uplifting without being too overbearing or stimulating, allowing for a comfortable rest in your room! Custom art by local artist Aquarela Sabol adorns each room, paying homage to prominent classical artists, and is a wonderful reference to the art culture of Miami.
Each room has views of the beaches and/or the surrounding city, allowing you to take in the gorgeous architecture of the city. The rooms are tech-forward with complimentary WiFi, USB ports, and a Chromecast, making it easier to wind down after a day of people-watching at Loomis Beach, the queer-friendly beach in South Beach.
Moxy offers two pools on site. On the second floor, you will find a spacious 72’ pool surrounded by lounge chairs and lush greenery. The pool features a large glass floor, allowing swimmers to look down on the guests in the lobby below. A circular communal shower is available, which can allow for some fun interactions, and if all goes well, private cabanas are available for rent if you seek some extra privacy!
On the 8th floor, up on the rooftop, you’ll find the Upside Lounging Pool. It’s an open and spacious cabana space offering a gorgeous all-around view of Miami, the beaches, and the vast Atlantic Ocean. This space is quirky in all the best ways, with an oversized life preserver as a communal swing, daybeds that are shaped like lily pads, and more bright and colorful art and colorways. It’s the ideal photo opportunity for the gay vacationer!
If you don’t want to work out down at Muscle Beach, Moxy has you covered with a fully equipped indoor/outdoor fitness center! It’s open 24/7 to suit anyone’s schedule for the day and is packed with equipment from Technogym. If you’re looking to show off, there’s an outdoor fitness station to allow for some upper-body workouts!
Moxy offers complimentary bikes for rental, including a helmet and lock, so you can cycle in style! If biking isn’t your thing, don’t worry! The Moxy is only a short walk away from the beach, as well as an 8+ mile trail for walking, running, or biking!
Restaurants, Bars, and Lounges
Right as you enter the hotel lobby, you are met with Bar Moxy. Before you even check in you can grab a margarita from the bar, enjoy custom cocktails, and look above to take a peek at the swimmers up on the second-story pool. A foosball table (with vintage Barbies as players, how gay) and a Zoltair horoscope payphone to predict your weekend are nearby. It makes for the perfect start to your stay.
A highlight of Moxy is the Serena rooftop restaurant. They feature decadent Latin American food, and have offerings for the whole day. The open-air alfresco patio is the perfect spot for brunch, and later in the evening makes for a very romantic sunset dinner with delicious drinks and food. Every Friday and Saturday they feature live performances by a traditional mariachi band.
Upside Rooftop Bar
While you’re cooling off by the rooftop pool, head over to the Upside Rooftop Bar and enjoy delicious drinks and cocktails as you watch the sunset over the Atlantic horizon. Don’t forget to get your tickets for Samba Sunday!
Los Bueno Tacos Bodega
If you’re looking for delicious morning tacos, breakfast food, and the strongest Cuban coffee around, make this the first stop of your day. Open every morning, they also offer a selection of clothing and other merchandise from favorite local brands.
If you’re looking for a darker, more subdued, and elegant dining experience, this seafood restaurant will really set the mood. Inspired by Latin American seafood dishes, this decadent menu has plenty to offer. There’s an offering of vegetarian-friendly meals, delicious cocktails, and a Barra Cruda, a huge raw bar with plenty of seafood available. Como Como is temporarily currently closed until Fall of 2023.
Next to the Como Como is Mezcalista, a bar, and lounge that lends itself to more intimate settings. It’s perfect for private gatherings and features a hidden tasting room that seats up to six. If you want to book a private dinner party or an exclusive tasting session, this is the place for you.
