Perched high above the banks of the North Saskatchewan River and on the edge of downtown Edmonton, Alberta, is the distinctive Coast Edmonton House. The 45 story hotel boasts 299 guest rooms and a host of amenities for both corporate and leisure travellers.
At the time the property opened in 1971, it was the tallest building in Edmonton, standing at 121 metres (397 ft). Over the years the property has undergone multiple renovations in the guest rooms, public areas and most recently the conference centre.
All the rooms in the hotel are suites, complete with full kitchens, sitting areas and bedrooms. The suites are spacious and include private balconies. This Coast property has new beds, sheets, and eco-friendly towels – which all travellers appreciate. The hotel offers complimentary high-speed, wireless internet and local calling.
Guests at the hotel are welcome to use the pool, hot tub and gym, located on the mezzanine level. Also on the mezzanine level is a convenience store, perfect for picking up snacks and refreshments. Rutherford’s Restaurant & Lounge is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering standard American fare, and an assortment of beer and wine (cocktails and martinis are not available). Room service is a good in-hotel dining option and only has a nominal service charge.
If you’ve been on the road for a while, the hotel does have self-serve laundry facilities so you can have clean clothes to continue on your journey, and dry-cleaning available. This property is also pet-friendly.
