Hosted from July 14 – 23, Fredericton, New Brunswick will host nine exciting and fun-filled days for Fierté Fredericton Pride 2023. The annual Pride events will be a fabulous and vibrant celebrations including drag shows, dance parties, outdoor adventure, health and wellness activities, and the main event, the Fierté Fredericton Pride parade. 

Fierté Fredericton Pride is one of the largest Pride celebrations in Atlantic Canada. People from the region will come to celebrate and participate in the line-up of festivities, and to show their support for Fredericton’s LGBTQ+ rights and freedoms. 

Here’s a look at the line-up of events scheduled for Fierté Fredericton Pride. 

Flag Raising Ceremony

July 14 12pm | City Hall

Kickstart your week with a momentous occasion at the majestic City Hall. Prepare to be captivated as the colorful progress flag and the trans flag ascend high above the city, painting the sky with a vibrant display of unity and celebration. 

This awe-inspiring Flag Raising event serves as a powerful symbol of pride and inclusivity, inviting citizens of all ages to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. 

This event is open to all, ensuring accessibility for everyone, including the provision of American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation to ensure that the experience is inclusive and welcoming to the D/deaf and hard-of-hearing community. 

Crafty Queers Presents: Creators and Community Market

July 15 12-4pm| Carleton St.

Immerse yourself in the captivating world of queer artistry and community connection at Carleton Street’s Crafty Queers Presents: Creators and Community Market. 

This remarkable event, held from 12pm to 4pm, promises an extraordinary experience for all ages, completely free and accessible.

As you enter the bustling market, the air crackles with creativity and the energy of passionate artists. 

Carleton Street transforms into a vibrant haven, filled to the brim with talented queer artists, master crafters, and artisans showcasing their awe-inspiring creations. Each booth offers a glimpse into a world of imagination, where paintings burst with emotion, sculptures come alive, and handcrafted treasures captivate the eye.

Freddy Beach Pride Block Party

Get ready for the unforgettable experience of the renowned Freddy Beach Pride Block Party! Taking place at the enchanting NB Provincial Exhibition (NB eX) Grounds on Saturday, July 15th, this spectacular event promises an evening of boundless fun and excitement.

The theme of this year’s Block Party is “Freddy Beach,” paying homage to the vibrant spirit of Fredericton. As the clock strikes 10:00pm, the doors swing open, welcoming you to a night filled with electrifying energy and endless possibilities.

On July 22, get ready for an exhilarating adventure on the water with Big Queer Canoe! This thrilling canoe trip, brought to you by GTFO, promises an unforgettable experience for the LGBTQ+ community and their allies.

Join us as we go on a lively journey hosted by the charismatic duo, Barb Wire and Heather Silk. While they won’t be paddling, they will certainly enchant you with their beauty and wit throughout the excursion.

We will launch from the picturesque Hartt Island RV Park at 2 pm, ready to navigate the tranquil waters together. Immerse yourself in the serenity of the river, surrounded by breathtaking natural landscapes and the camaraderie of fellow adventurers.

The canoe trip will last approximately two hours, filled with laughter, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories. Feel the thrill of gliding through the water, as you embrace the freedom and joy that comes with this unique experience.

Pride parade 

July 23 3pm – 5pm | York to King, then onto Carleton

 This iconic event promises a dazzling display of inclusivity, love, and joy.

The parade kicks off at 3 pm and will traverse the lively streets of Fredericton, following a route from York to King, then onto Carleton, and finally returning along Queen to the starting point on York. Join the enthusiastic crowds lining the sidewalks, and find your perfect spot early to ensure a front-row view of the festivities.

As the parade winds its way through the city, immerse yourself in the electrifying atmosphere and embrace the rainbow-colored extravaganza. Feel the love and acceptance that permeates the air as diverse groups, organizations, and individuals proudly showcase their vibrant floats, dazzling costumes, and infectious enthusiasm.
