If you’ve got the end of summer blues and don’t know what you’re going to do with yourself as the weather outside starts to get cooler and the days shorter—don’t fret just yet. The great thing about the fall is a fresh new line up of television and entertainment to dive into. Autumn is right around the corner, and here are queer television and streaming programs you should need to watch. 

The L Word. Showtimes’ highly anticipated return of the critically acclaimed lesbian drama is returning this fall. Ten years after the original went off the air, the L Word centers around the loves and lives of a group of lesbians and bisexual friends living in Los Angeles. The L Word: Generation Q will see at least three of the original cast members returning into their original roles. No release date has been confirmed, but The L Word: Generation Q is coming soon.

Elite. Netflix’s runaway teen drama from Spain will be returning for a second season on the streaming service. Detailing the lives of three working class teenagers forced to attend an upper-class boarding school and the students around them, Elite was ground-breaking for numerous reasons. One of the teenage characters was dealing with being HIV undetectable, while an interracial gay relationship between a Muslim boy and Christian boy is one of the leading romances, and a bisexual threesome love affair was the other main relationship in the series. Don’t you worry, there’s subtitles and the show has been expertly dubbed in English as an alternative setting.

American Horror Story. The name Ryan Murphy has become synonymous with queer Hollywood. The creator of Glee and the Assassination of Giovanni Versace consistently delivers queer-centric movies and television shows. The new season of American Horror Story is a 1980s kids summer camp setting. With gay Olympian hunk Gus Kenworthy added to the cast, along with the return of players from previous seasons: Sara Paulson, Jessica Lange, Darren Criss, Emma Roberts, Cody Fern, and Wittrock, it looks like American Horror Story season 9 titled 1984, will be spooky and creepy AF.

The Politician. There are fewer gay people as powerful and as popular in Hollywood as Ryan Murphy. His newest endeavor The Politician, is a musical comedy from the minds of Brad Falchuk, Ian Brennan, and Murphy himself. About a high school student who knows he is destined to be the President of the United States someday, The Politician stars Tony Award winner Ben Platt (from Pitch Perfect and Dear Evan Hanson). Sexuality, love, and teenage angst might all add up to be another successful and V gay program from Mr. Murphy.

Batwoman. FINALLY! The gays have been hungry for YEARS wanting their own super hero, and finally, the CW is delivering. Batwoman, whose alter ego is Kate Kane, is a comic book cousin of original Batman Bruce Wayne. Like her cousin, Kate chooses to fight crime and use her wealth to crush tyranny and violence in Gotham City. Batwoman just happens to be a lesbian. While the CW has never shied away from having queer characters in its shows, Batwoman will be starring a real life lesbian actress, Ruby Rose, from Orange is the New Black.

Drag Race UK. Long an American gay cultural tour de force, RuPaul’s Drag Race is stretching its healed legs and taking the circus across the pond to England. Drag queens in the United Kingdom and Europe will finally be able to compete in this long-awaited version of the hit reality show. While RuPaul herself won’t be participating, you can bet your britches that RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, from BBC 3, will introduce a new brand of gay culture into the world.
