What happens in the adult film industry when work comes to a screeching moaning halt? A new documentary goes deep into the underbelly of the world of porn through the eyes of several of its stars.
Recently acquired from Breaking Glass Pictures, Pornstar Pandemic: The Guys is the new documentary directed by Edward ‘EJ’ James that follows a coterie of gay and bisexual performers as they navigate through life during the coronavirus pandemic. Releasing on DVD and all major video on demand platforms on July 28th, it features Dante Colle, DeAngelo Jackson, Jack Loft, Elijah Wilde, and Pierce Paris, the reigning XBIZ winner for Gay Performer of the Year. Executive produced by Rich Wolff of Breaking Glass, Edward James, director Alter Sin, and publicist Alex Lecomte also make appearances in the film.
Via remote interviews and self-produced content, Pornstar Pandemic: The Guys investigates the routines and daily lives of some of the world’s biggest and up-and-coming names in the porn industry, covering all facets of the scene from gay to pansexual to gay-for-pay. A representative for the film described it in detail:
“The documentary features the actors during their daily activities, along with their personal thoughts on the current state of the industry and their own roles in it, how the shutdown has affected their lives and livelihood and what’s next once everyone can return to work.”
The director of the documentary explained that his intent was to showcase a more emotionally intimate view of porn stars and the world in which they live:
“Their lives are often more similar to the average person than many think and we wanted to explore that, especially during our current situation. We’re all in this together, and it’s important to highlight that fact.”
Communities everywhere seem to be coming together to face the COVID-19 crisis head-on, and the sex industry is no different, with several organizations reaching out. One example is the Free Speech Coalition, which is providing funds and conducting workshops that assist actors in earning additional income from other sources.
With the entire world in shutdown mode due to COVID-19, most industries have been forced into lockdown, and the adult film industry is no different. Currently, it is closed for an unspecified period of time as the actors, directors, and production staff that collaborate on features remain idle.
The documentary covers what adult entertainers do when they are not up close and personal on camera, how their livelihoods have been affected by the coronavirus, and what’s next on their plates once they can begin getting back to work in the adult film industry. Pornstar Pandemic: The Guys is set to take viewers on a ride they have rarely been able to experience…until now.
