Scotch and Lemonade Cocktail

Don't be fooled by its simplicity — this drink is as classy as it comes.

Think of a Scotch and Lemonade cocktail as a photo. The Scotch is the glass. It’s clear, so you can see the Scotch, and it has a nice shape. It’s squat and round, with good proportions. The Scotch glass is deep, too — that way, you get to enjoy all the Scotch without having to sip through the ice.

The lemonade is your subject. It grabs your attention immediately. It’s bright yellow, and it shines against the dark background of the glass (the glass being the backdrop). As a subject, it has a lot going on: It’s all bubbly and foamy at first glance, but it moves when you look at it longer.

You can see how the lemonade looks like it’s pouring out of the glass, because of how much movement there is in that space between them. Also, the lemonade is a pale yellow — it has beautiful colours that are hard to ignore.

Together? They make one hell of a cocktail!

Ingredients

  • 1 oz single malt scotch
  • ½ oz lemon juice
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • Club soda

Add scotch and lemon syrup to a highball glass filled with ice. Top with club soda. Garnish with a dehydrated lemon slice.

Enjoy and drink responsibly
