Well, it was an incredible evening of men, beats, and sweat. A circuit party without the Nair – scruff, gruff and everything in between.
DJ Ben Baker kicked off the night with his circuit music on the main stage. FIVESIXTY was already heaving by 11:30 and it wasn’t even starting. Men came from the east coast, up from Vancouver’s southern neighbour Seattle and from hundreds of miles inland just for this.
The four go go boys had everyone’s eyes glancing on stage non-stop, including Dan Bevan with his west coast tattoos and the ever scruffy, muscle bulging, bubble ass, Colin Marcus Jackson, Vancouver’s 2015 Mr. Ruff.
There was a great lounge space upstairs where men could relax on the sofas, grab a drink, run into old friends, and watch the dancefloor from up above. And downstairs, local DJ Quest spun his own mix of diva, conveniently located around the corner from FIVESIXTY’s infamous washrooms, individual stalls with full length doors, it was not surprising so many people needed their friend’s assistance in the washroom.
Berlin killed it on stage. Local female enthusiast and impersonator moved like a tigress in heat as she lapped up the submissive hunky go go boys. She oozed femininity, seductress, and femme fatale. Not long after, the boyz of SCRUFF and Nasty Pig came out on stage, including Johnny Skandros, aka Johnny Scruff, founder of SCRUFF who’s obviously been building his torso up over the last year, along with Joey and Jason Scruff. Frederik Kearney, co-founder of Nasty Pig, teased the crowd with his eyes of ice. All these boys threw giveaways at the crowd that never seemed to end.
And after all that, the highlight of the show came on – DJ Nina Flowers didn’t stop spinning ‘til the lights came on, keeping the crowd going in a city notorious for its boys that head to bed early. With both an after party and Steamworks baths around the corner, that wasn’t the end of the night for many.
