Whiskey is the spirit that is probably most associated with masculinity. Your father probably grew up watching old John Wayne movies and learned that while a man can’t cry, he can sip on a glass during troubled times. You can’t vent your frustrations on the world surrounding you, but you can find some kind of solace with a simple glass of whiskey, neat.
That’s maybe what people used to think of whiskey; but that’s in no way what this spirit represents today. In today’s world, whiskey is a spirit meant for everyone to learn to sip on and enjoy. It’s not just representative of ruggedness, it’s also sophistication, simplicity, laborious, and heroic. But that description can fit anybody, man, woman, he, she, them; there’s no one label to fit any person in society.
And just as there’s no one way to see us, there’s not one way to enjoy a nice whiskey. This St. Patrick’s Day try drinking your whiskey with a little bit of a twist in the form of this Shamrock Sour Cocktail. It’s a way to make your St. Paddy’s day a little bit more interesting, and maybe a little bit more representative of you. At the very least, it’s in spirit with the times.
